Suddenly we're six months old...

This blog has, I'll admit, been neglected since LMS got going in July last year and it was a shock, a pleasant shock, to realise we're suddenly six months old!

Our main social media output is over on Facebook (opens in a new window) and it'd be great if you popped by and said hello!

We'll be using the blog as a backup to the Facebook page, as a gallery and as a scratchpad where we can post links, sketches, plans etc as well as somewhere to publish downloadables such as posters for events.

For how, here's a brief update on progress so far.

Last July we were lucky enough to get access to a portacabin adjacent to Rostrum in Lochmaben.

The building needed a bit of TLC to repair the outer shell and our first few weeks were spent fixing heavy ply to the frame of the building, weatherproofing and painting.  We refurbished the handy ramp at the front door as accessibility is a big concern for us.

Internally the building just needed a coat of paint and a bit of a clean round to remove the ants and wasps and then we could get on with installing donated equipment, sorting out donated tools and actually getting down to MAKING SOME STUFF!!

We have been exceptionally lucky to have been supported by Rostrum, SHAP and of course, members of the local community who have donated hand tools, power tools, a stack of timber and more.

Already we have a small core of regular members who have been wood turning, making bird boxes and feeders, helping restore a spinning wheel and who, in the coming year, are looking forward to taking on more challenging projects as well as getting involved in some fund raising activities shortly.

Welcome!

MASSIVE NEWS!

Lochmaben now has a Mens Shed!!

We now have... A SHED!
Full details to follow but, thanks to the support of a local firm, we now have a home for the Lochmaben Shed!
Over the next couple of weeks we will need volunteers to help get the place ship shape (bit of cleaning, bit of painting and decorating, some joinery work needed).
If you'd like to volunteer, contact Colin & Ken thru the Shed's Facebook page and we'll let you know when we'll be on site.
